My name is Judy Hrynenko and I have been making Ukrainian food for over 30 years. I have lost count of the many little perogy pillows that I have pinched, but I am sure its in the millions. Needless to say that has become my specialty. Though I prepare many other forms of Ukrainian foods such as my famous Cabbage rolls (made famous throughout the 80’s at the Folkerama in Winnipeg) it is my perogies that I am most famous for. So much so that even the band Nickelback contacted me personally to say they are the best they ever had. I am also proud to state that they have been a favorite at the underground café’ “Tommy’s” in North Vancouver for over 7 years.

I have decided to fully immerse myself in the perogie business and started “Prairie Cottage Perogies". Our perogies are prepared in the Old Ukrainian tradition. If you want a more authentic perogie you’ll have to fly to Lviv or Kyiv. They just don’t come any more real, or as tasty, than ours! They are made from scratch, using the highest quality and freshest ingredients: hand-peeled potatoes, hand-made dough, real cheese, and fresh chopped onions.

This truly is a family business and I have now partnered with my niece Tanya who has had over 20 years experience in the food and beverage industry with the past 10 in Management. She handles all the day to day business operations of our new business and restaurant.
